I received this yesterday and thought you might be interested. It ties in beautifully with the new technologies we were talking about at the update meetings. This school is also actively using blogs and wikis and would be a useful starting point for you to get some ideas.
Dear All
I am a Year 6 teacher and my class and I are looking for contributions from other primary classes to our science investigation. We are going to be re-running an investigation into the effect of temperature on the rate of dissolving and collating results using an online spreadsheet tool such as Google Spreadsheets or Editgrids. I hope to illustrate how the more results we have the more reliable they become and the more reliable our conclusions can be too.
So we are looking for as many contributions as possible. The great thing about the online spreadsheet as a way to collate results from many different sites is that the sheet is updated in real time, so for example we could view changes to a graph as more results are added.
Please see posts about this on our class blog > http://priestsic6.learnerblogs.org/2006/10/16/the-biggest-science-investigation-ever/
And on my blog > http://tbarrett.edublogs.org/2006/10/12/science-and-editgrids-a-resquest-for-help/
We have already had some interest from classes in Wales and
Australia and would very much appreciate your help – or if you can even pass on the details to a colleague or school you know could help. Please leave a comment on either of the blogs above to register your interest
Many Thanks
Tom Barrett
