Here are three examples of programs which provide parents with a degree of control and protection for the home computer. You will need to spend some time exploring each in turn to decide which you might choose to recommend to your parents. E-safety has such a high profile currently that if parents haven’t asked for guidance I’m sure they soon will.

Glubble
This is a Firefox add-on which is free to use. It has a very good frequently asked questions section. It customises the browser so that it is more child friendly whilst restricting access to sites unless they are recognised as being safe and trustworthy.
The site describes Glubbles as ’bubbles of web content you trust for your child to see online.’ There is a selection of prepared Glubbles to explore and modify to your own personal tastes in order to help you buld the web you want.
